| Cyprus Bagdad achieves maximum
production and minimum maintenance with a Dur-X-Snapdeck® modular
rubber screen system on both decks. |
Cyprus Bagdad, a copper operation in Arizona, used side-tension rubber
screens in its facilities until 1994, when increased production and the
need to reduce maintenance time made a change necessary.
How
much increased production? Previously, Cyprus Bagdad ran 40,000 tons
per day, every day of the year. Today the plant runs more than 85,000
tons per day.
When management rated all modular screen systems on efficiency and maintenance
in 1994, they selected the Dur-X-Snapdeck® modular screen system.
Cyprus Bagdad began reviewing Durex screen media and the Dur-X-Snapdeck®
modular system with one test in an abrasive wet operation.
With the success of the first test, the company installed six more decks
of Dur-X-Snapdeck® rubber modular system for its durability and
ability to reduce plugging. The company has changed to heavy duty 60
durometer rubber on the top decks and to self-cleaning 40 durometer
rubber to reduce plugging on the
bottom decks.
Results: Cyprus Bagdad conducts ongoing tests of all its
systems and Durex remains the primary modular system and screen media
supplier.
